WAO 2013- team Puerto RIco
Thinking back about the World Agility Open which was one of the most beautiful moments at the WAO 2011?
I remember realizing how much I can learn from my dog. There was a moment during the weekend when I looked down at Legend and thought how she had no idea she was in a differen country. I found my confidence in watching her act just the same as when running agility at home, unfazed by the new equipment and environment. The expectations and nervousness of getting there were all wiped away the moment we stepped in the ring for the first time. Running agility was the one thing that felt familiar and comfortable, so I used that to stay focused and ru one course at a time!
You started your agility career in Puerto Rico, then you moved to Miami, FL to improve eve more... Now, you are the founder of Achieve Agility dog training services in South Florida. Those are small dreams that came true... What are your plans for the future?
I want to grow as a teacher, improve as a handler and become a better competitor. I have been lucky to just have things happen to me in the right place at the right time, including some great opportunities that I have accepted. As the saying goes " luck is when opportunity knocks and you answer "- I will see what life has in store for me next and just go for it.
Explain to us, what exactly is Achieve Agility.
When thinking of a name for my business, I wanted something to match my initials( AA) in addition to describing what I am offering as an instructor. In my opinion, the best teacher is the one who helps students achieve their individual goals, whether it is agility, obedience or whatever( sport) they wish to succeed in.
What advice would you give to those who are facing for the first time an agility competition?
Breathe... it ' s just agility. Trust your training and remember that you have your best teammate right next to you.
Your 3 essential things to be happy?
I will cheat and say my family( which includes my dogs and my friends), sleep( just because it feels like a luxury these days), and food( i. e. cheese, bread and wine, which I am hoping to have a lot of in Spain).
