rings opened up to accommodate all these dogs at once . It makes for a spectacular sight , albeit a challenge for a judge to quickly select the top five out of 50 to 75 dogs .
Over the three days , we judged a number of impressive specimens , but three dogs in particular were memorable . Doreen Duffin and Myrna Shiboleth both chose an outstanding Basset Hound , Br . GCh . Lake Park Sullivan , for their Best in Shows on Friday and Saturday . A consummate show dog , he stands motionless , like a perfect statue , head and tail up , while the handler stands behind him on a 6-foot lead . He has apparently won more than 60 Best in Shows .
Another dog with a huge future ahead of her is the elegant white Standard Poodle Pandora ’ s Box Pilar . Only 11 months old , she not only won Best Junior in Show twice ( and Reserve the other day ) but placed fifth in the adult Best in Show lineup on the final day . Her bloodlines are impeccable , coming from two of the world ’ s most renowned Poodle kennels .
Exceedingly rare , [ the Bulldogue Campiero ] looks like a muscular Dogue de Bordeaux on shorter legs .
She has a Del Zarzoso ( Spanish ) sire and a Da Maya ( Brazilian ) dam .
I was honored to judge Best in Show at the international show and had 10 excellent dogs to choose from . The magnificent Basset was my Reserve winner . But I could not deny BIS to the exquisite 25-month-old Wire Fox Terrier , GCh . Hampton Court Steele Interstellar . With her pedigree , one would hope for an exceptional offspring . Her sire is Am ., UK , Br ., Arg ., Int . Ch . Travella Starlord , winner of the Terrier Group at Crufts 2011 , Terrier Group and BIS3 at the World Show 2015 , and the top dog all breeds in Argentina 2012 with 52 BIS . She is out of Ch . Afterall Painting the Sky , who was BIS at Westminster 2014 , No . 1 of all breeds in 2013 , and , like Starlord , winner of the Terrier Group and BIS3 at the 2011 World Show in Paris , with 100 total BIS . She gave me goose bumps ! Discovering and rewarding extraordinary quality such as I found in Brazil is , of course , the primary reason why we judge . DIR
