15.4 BRANDED MERCHANDISE APPLYING OUR IDENTITY Avoid re-branding items that existed before the launch of the new Mediclinic identity by simply changing the logo on them. YOUR BRAIN IS 80% WATER Think of how the new visual identity could be used. Is the colour scheme as on-brand as it could be? Is the typography in our new typeface and typographic style? Is there something that could be done to the item that was previously not part of the identity. For example, could the item have a relevant sentence on it in the new typography style and tone of voice? SUBTLETY OF LOGO USE Some items should use very subtle branding. For example, application of the logo on a sports bag could be embossed or stiched to a small piece of material attached to the zipper. Use of the new typography style and tone of voice to add branding to the product Subtle use of logo on material attached to the zipper Subtle use of logo with colour restraint Use of the symbol as a supergraphic Use restraint when applying the logo to clothing. People will not wish to wear items that have large logos or feel too corporate. High quality items, for example a flask or a USB stick, could have a small logo engraved into it. USING THE SYMBOL AS A SUPERGRAPHIC This is allowed in merchandise, as long as the full logo also appears on the application. If placing on a coloured background then keeping the symbol in white will ensure good legibility. Only use it once on an item, never use as a pattern.
