DNH NEWSLETTERS November December 2013 | Page 6

Events Team As well as running events The Community Participation Project enables us to develop the skills of our helpers, including many people with disabilities, who make our events possible. In Spring 2014 we will be organising an evening of live music following on from the Connect &Create Civic Centre, Musical Museum and St Pauls events in 2010-2012 which raised money for DNH. We already have an informal event planning team, including the regular members of the coffee morning group. From January 2014 we will be organising training in food hygiene, risk assessment, first aid, stewarding and accessibility. A visit to Music for Meru will be part of this as an example of an inclusive and well-organised event. We have booked a minibus to go to Something Wonderful for MERU, leaving Brentford at 11.30 and the Star Centre at 12 noon to go to Leatherhead, returning to Hounslow and Brentford in the evening. There may be a later journey if enough people want to go. If you have not already given Penny your details please phone or text 07531971271. The minibus is funded by the Community Participation Project grant. You are of course welcome to travel independently if you have a car. Entrance to the event is £3 minimum suggested donation, carers and under 16s free. Details of the event and of MERU's work are on their website www.meru.org.uk and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Music4Meru 6
