Meet the AFN BC Director
It’s fascinating for me to experience as an Army
officer who only a few months ago was watching
American Forces Network (AFN) TV in the Republic of
Korea, to serve in the building where those shows
originated from as your Director.
Over the last weeks, I’ve enjoyed meeting many of
you and learning how you contribute to our mission of
serving the military overseas with top stateside radio
and television entertainment. During my previous
assignment with 8 th Army Public Affairs I was intimately
familiar with how AFN radio, TV and social media helped
the commanding general communicate critical messages
to his warriors and their families.
What a great mission we have here! I recently had the
opportunity to hear for myself what Hollywood thinks of
AFN when I accompanied the Marketing and Promotions
team to the set of the hit TV show “NCIS LA,” for its 200 th
episode. They love that AFN serves as a bridge for them
to the U.S. military overseas and them, and their show.
What really impressed me is that these stars seem to be
down-to-earth people just like us. I invited them to visit
us here at the Broadcast Center. I hope they take us up
on it!
