DJ REM STUDIOS Webzine November 2013 Issue 2 | Page 3
Who did you get your musical talent from?
I believe that we are all self-taught musicians. I was in the high school band and learned drum rudiments and what not. But, as far as playing the kit… self-taught. None of us had any real musical
lessons or anything like that.
Where can people find out more about the band?
The first place to go of coarse would be the internet. We have our own website www.coventhirteen.com. Or you can find us on Twitter, Facebook, Reverbnation, and Last.FM.
Or simply visit our labels site, www.shadowkingdomrecords.com.
What are your goals for the future? Where do you hope to be in 2 years?
Alive for one. We have no plans on stopping. We are writing new material for another record, in
hopes to be in the studio for it by summer of 2014. We would like to do some touring in the States,
Europe and Central America.
What recording studio do you use?
We recorded “Destiny of the Gods” at Metro 37 Studios in Rochester Hills, MI in June of 2012. Kevin Sharpe was our engineer.
If I grabbed your IPod from you, what would i find you listening to right now?
At this very moment, it would be, Type O Negative’s “World Coming Down”.
How would you define "success" for the band?
Success? Up to this point? I don’t know how successful we really are. We have had a lot of people
that have helped us out that have gotten us to where we are today. Mainly our fans! A huge amount
of it has come from Tim McGrogan at Shadow Kingdom Records. He really has been the one who
launched us up to our current success level. Claw Hammer PR has been great! But it really was
Fenriz from Dark Throne who got us to thinking that we should get back together. He had mentioned Coven on several occasions in interviews and in articles in magazines which we hold in regards as the highest compliment and respect. Really, if it wasn’t for Fenriz, we wouldn’t be having
this interview right now.
What do you guys do to relax?
Myself, well when I am not doing anything music related or when I am away from my full time job, I
mainly spend most of my time with my family. I spend a lot of my time reading books about WW2. I
am a big WW2 buff. Other than that, listening to music. We all have day jobs. David is an avid reader also. He mainly reads about the Vikings and Nordic history. Roger keeps himself busy with community groups and organizations. Richie and Todd are big sport fanatics and concert goers.
