Gig Life Asia
This month we go island hopping, showcasing
two very different, but equally charming Pacific
Island Nations.
Starting in the South Pacific
the beautiful bustle of Manila just hosted a one
day festival of indie rock favorites and cutting
edge DJs. Start planning your trip now to the
Northeast island’s prefecture of Shizuoko that
will be hosting a 3-day camping festival site
surrounded by nature, just over 2 hours south of
To k y o .

Eat:
Classic Filipino dishes done the best I’ve had is
Café Juanita. Feast on tart Adobo, tangy Sinigag
and crispy Lumpia in an eccentric and colorful
dining room reminiscent of an old Aunty’s. The
antiques and quirky décor will entertain you until
the feast laid before you steals your focus.
Drink/Do:
Irie Sunday @ B-Side is a Sunday must in Manila.
The friendliest people gather in the open-air
venue, drawn by the most music performed by
talented Reggae, Rasta, Dancehall DJs and bands.
Artists set up stalls to sell their crafts and grilled
skewers on sale satiate any late night snack
needs.
Tr a v e l T i p :
Uber is a cheap and reliable way to get around
Manila. Allow yourself about twice the time to
get somewhere than Google Maps suggests if you
are traveling in the city between 8am and 8pm.
