EDM Producer drop or unique chord progression that will make the audience engaged from the start to finish of your track. A great track is about great composition. You can hire the biggest ghost producer or you can be the great audio engineer on the planet, but if you are not unique and create your own sound, you will not stand out.
5. How is the Trance scene in Toronto?
It’ s great, it has just finished its four year music cycle. So, I would like to say the Trance scene in Toronto is back in the redevelopment phase again, and it’ s a good sign! I remember when I first moved to Toronto, the Toronto scene was so big, even people from Australia would travel to experience the big room Guvernment Trance nights. But, look at where Australia is right now. I think music goes in a cycle, and Toronto is due to make that return of the glorious days of Trance. That also doesn’ t mean Trance is dead here in Toronto, it’ s well alive. Promotions company like Ozmozis is keeping it well alive, but more underground!
6. What did it feel like when you found out your A State of Trance debut made it to future favourite and got released on Armada?
Good question! It was so unexpected, I made“ Where Do We Begin,” as a Bootleg remix with my studio partner and mentor Sunset. Getting it to be played on ASOT was never the plan in the first place. I just always loved the vocal of the track and wanted to make a rework for my live sets. Once we finished it, I sent it to Armin van Buuren to see if he would like it or not. The next week he played it on ASOT, and the feeling and the rush of seeing the track blow up in real time was surreal. Then, the week after it became future favourite and then Armada approached me to get an official release, it was like a dream come true! It was a great teamwork with Sunset, and I think without him it would not have been possible.
7. What do you think has been your greatest achievement as a dance music producer?
Getting interviewed by Armin van Buuren in front of millions of people, getting my first vocal track crowned as the tune of the week www. saadayub. com facebook. co / saadayubofficial instagram. com / saadayubofficial twitter. com / saadayub pro. beatport. com / artist / saad-ayub / 353253
by him and getting it as the debut release on Armada! I would like to think, I am musically spoiled because I achieved way too many milestones with one track. It’ s scary, but amazing feeling!
8. How was it like working with Jennifer Rene for‘ Move On’?
I made a psy mashup of her track with Solid Stone“ Not Enough” last year, which was supported by Giuseppe Ottaviani on his radio show. Jen really loved that mashup and shared it with her fans. After that, I stayed in touch with her. When I have decided to make my first vocal track, naturally my first choice was Jen. I sent her the instrumental and she loved it and the rest was history. She is an amazing human being and is a great person to work with.
9. Are you satisfied with the outcome?
Absolutely! People have been talking about this track since Armin dropped it as an ID on ASOT Festival Mexico last year and after the release. Look at the success of this track: Massive support from Armin Van Buuren( can’ t thank him enough), unconditional support from all the big DJs, 4 consecutive weeks on Beatport top 20, # 3 on Trackitdown, # 33 on Spotify Viral Chart in Canada( that’ s a really hard chart to crack for Uplifting Trance), # 9 on iTunes Dance chart in Chile, hundreds of thousands of plays on Streaming sites and YouTube and huge support on FM stations all across the globe. I was not expecting to get this much of traction. All my hard work paid off, and I am really happy with the outcome.
10. Who influences you most and who would you like to work with this year?
My biggest influence is my mentor and studio partner Sunset, Activa, Greg Downey, Sean Tyas, and Aly & Fila. I’ m definitely looking forward to working with a few vocalists this year( I can’ t tell you yet), and I also would love to work with Emma Hewitt & the vocalist of London Grammar and sometime down the road with Zara Taylor( I love her voice).
