After 1740 long lonely in the Caleta de Fuste , the historic site of the fortified tower is now part of the area of the Barcelò hotel complex
a magnet for beach holidaymakers who perhaps prefer a more tranquil atmosphere than in its sometimes livelier counterparts Corralejo and Morro Jable . Along the rocky coast around Caleta , on the other hand , is a top diving area . It only takes between five and around 20 minutes to get to the dive sites in the diving centre ‘ s fast boats .
„ Our divers love it !“ says Volker Berbig . The native Swabian and his „ co “ Roland Martensson from Sweden are the bosses of Deep Blue Diving . They have a large number of repeat customers among their mostly German and English guests . Even though it is easy to dive from one mooring to the next in some places , the more than 20 diving spots are very different . As is generally the case in the waters off Fuerte , nobody has to break any depth records here . „ Of course we also have spots that show 40 metres or a little more on the computer ,“ explains Volker , „ but these are exceptions ; there is plenty to see even below the reef edge , which is around twelve metres deep .“
