By Sheneese House-Johnson CEO of Sheneese & Co.( Content Creations) CFO of Prestige Property Management
DZ: What would you do if you were sure you could not fail? SHJ: Honestly, there’ s nothing I wouldn’ t pursue if it’ s a true desire of my heart. I believe I can accomplish anything I set my mind to as long as I stay consistent, don’ t give up, and keep God at the center. Failure isn’ t falling short— failure is quitting.
By Shyanne Johnson DZ: What would you do if you were sure you could not fail? SJ: Hmm, I really had trouble answering because so much has come to mind. But I think number one would be to walk in the will of God with no hiccups.
DZ: What would you tell your 18 – 25-year-old self based on what you know now? SJ: I would tell my 18 – 25-year-old self that“ It takes time and to worship through, the best is yet to come.”
DZ: How do you define success? SJ: I define success by the joy in everyday life. No matter what the situation is, having joy can truly help me to see the glass as half full instead of half empty.
DZ: What are daily / weekly self-care practices? SJ: Some self-care practices that I have implemented are waking up early to set the atmosphere with prayer and worship, then I make sure to go to the gym. By doing these self-care practices I am working on the inside and the outside.
DZ: What promise have you made to yourself that you can say you are working to fulfill now? SJ: A promise that I have made to myself that I am now currently working to fulfill is being the CEO of Bare & True and walking in God’ s will for my life. I haven’ t felt this full in a long time.
SJ: In the company of my sisters … I feel loved to the point where I can be myself without being judged.
SJ: My daily practices of prayer and devotion … Includes starting with gratitude to God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. From which I then wait and stay silent and allow God to tell me which way He would like the prayer to go.
DZ: What would you tell your 18 – 25-year-old self based on what you know now? SHJ: Girl— pick up that Bible. Slow down. Learn yourself and give yourself grace. Figure out who you are before you add to your life— whether that’ s a partner or kids. Educate yourself. Travel. Heal. Fall in love with you, Sheneese. That’ s the real key to happiness— and to knowing what you want from life.
DZ: How do define success? SHJ: I define success internally, not by status or applause. Success to me is alignment: having peace, walking in obedience to God, being consistent in my choices, and choosing myself without guilt. It’ s not just surviving what should’ ve broken me but having the courage to stop surviving and start living intentionally— building, protecting, and walking away from what no longer serves the life God is calling me to.
DZ: What are daily / weekly self-care practices? SHJ: Daily: Consistent skincare and intentional moments to reset. Weekly: Working out a few times a week to care for my body and mind. Monthly: At-home DIY nail and pedicure sessions as a reset and reward.
DZ: What promise have you made to yourself that you can say you are doing to work to fulfill now? SHJ: I promised myself I would stop building other people’ s visions and start building my own. After more than 10 years working in property management, I’ ve actively laid the groundwork to launch my own property management company. I’ m also pursuing my real estate license, with plans to begin school by the spring.
SHJ: In the company of my sisters …. I experience a love, peace, and covering that nourishes my soul.
SHJ: My daily practices of prayer and devotion … are essential— they guide my steps, strengthen my faith, and give me peace of mind to endure life’ s race.
