Sovereign

Sovereign- Supreme Authority. Unmitigated. The most exalted. Absolute. These are just a few of the definitions for the word‘ Sovereign’. At some point, when we are young or old, we develop a plan for our life. That plan may be written or simply in our minds, nevertheless, there is a plan that we have.
The problem is, often, depending on our belief system or our upbringing, our plans are our own and don ' t usually involve God or His input. But the ironic thing is, all of creation originated with God. So, imagine what it was like, living for years trying to figure out this thing called life. Doing what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted. Until my way of doing things kept bringing me back to the same, unfulfilled place.

It’ s amazing the revelation you receive when you come to the end of yourself. And that ' s what it was like for me. Surrendering to God ' s plan, meant acknowledging some hard truths about myself. It meant taking responsibility for my failures and acknowledging I couldn ' t do life alone. It meant I had to ask for help, both naturally and spiritually. I had to talk to a therapist( natural); on the days I felt like crashing out. Engaging with a minister of the Gospel( spiritual), on the days I needed to be reminded of Jesus ' s great love for me even with my imperfections. And it also meant asking my family and friends to help me and hold me accountable when I wanted to make excuses and disengage.
Surrendering to God ' s plan for my life wasn ' t easy because His plan simply didn ' t look anything like I envisioned. Not even on my best day. I had to trust in His sovereignty. That meant that I had to release all control of my plans and desires. God was and still requires me to trust Him in everything and with everything. Which can seem impossible when looking at an invisible God. The journey with Christ has been full of ups and downs. Allowing God to be absolute or the most exalted in your life does NOT and will never under any circumstances convey that life becomes problem-free. But I can promise, that if you allow, He will make the journey worth it. One day, one moment, one encounter at a time. Selah.
