Love the Skin You ' re In:
Swimwear as Freedom
By; Rev. Dr. Gail Davis
I used to shrink at the thought of putting on a bathing suit— especially a bikini. I’ d tug at towel edges, cross my arms, and pray not to be seen. See, I was self-conscious about my breasts being“ flat.” I compared myself to other women— rounder, fuller, seemingly more desirable— and quietly decided I didn’ t measure up. But somewhere along the way, something in me shifted. I grew tired of watching joy from the sidelines. I longed to dive in— fully, freely, unapologetically— into the oceans of life. Loving the skin you’ re in doesn’ t mean you adore every inch of it every single day. It means you choose to honor it. Your skin is your first layer of covering— a gift from God, a living testimony of all you ' ve survived. So why not speak kindly to it? Nourish it. Wrap it not in shame, but in celebration. Sometimes that celebration looks like a well-loved one-piece, a bold bikini, or a high-waisted suit that hugs your hips and lets your confidence rise.
Swimwear isn’ t reserved for a certain size, age, or standard of beauty. It’ s for every woman who wants to feel the sun on her shoulders, ride a wave of joy, float in the stillness of her own becoming. Swimwear is for the woman who’ s ready to reclaim her body as hers— not to be judged, but to be free.

So let this be the summer you stop waiting. Stop waiting to lose the weight. To feel“ ready.” You’ re already worthy. Already enough. Choose the color that makes your spirit come alive. Pick the print that tells your story. And walk the beach like it’ s your runway— because confidence doesn’ t come from perfection; it comes from presence.
The truth is, no one else sees you the way fear does. They see your light. Your laughter. Your liberation. They see a woman who chose to love the skin she’ s in— and wear it with pride.
The water is waiting. The sun is calling. And so is your most radiant, fearless self. Step in. Live out loud. And let your swimsuit be a sacred symbol of freedom.
