Never Abandon Your First Love
Do you remember your first crush? Your first love?
I remember being 15 years old and thinking that he, Junior, was going to be the one I married! He would whistle, letting me know he was around the block. I would make up any excuse to see him. Oh, the innocence! I thought love was the thumping of my heart or the butterflies that decided to take residence in my belly.
In college, at 21, I walked into an oncampus Christian group meeting. There, I was introduced to the love of my life. His name is Jesus, and my life has never been the same.
Life got harder, but for all the right reasons! I have met the One who created me and whispered how much He loves me and how much I mean to Him. Life became difficult because now, I knew I could not continue doing what I was doing- there was a standard, a LOVE standard.
How do we not lose this first love? I have had seasons in which I thought I“ lost it. I have had to go right back to Him, and ask for forgiveness. And you know what? Each time, He has been waiting for me.
Seek Him every day. Open up your Bible! I don ' t care if it comes in the form of paper or phone – fall in love with His Word. Seek His FACE and not Facebook, first thing each morning.

Intentionality. We make sure to eat, watch our programs, and check our bank accounts. Keep that same energy, but for HIM. When you think about it, all we have is because of Him. He is our Source.
Gratefulness. Think of all He has done, all that we have, and overcome because of Him. This should move us when you think of how good God has been to you! With all the craziness going on in this world, and you are still here, take a few minutes to thank Him.
Acknowledge Him. God is always speaking. There have been times when the Holy Spirit whispers a name, a verse, or a song. Sometimes He tells us to slow down. Know that these are God moments, saying He is right there with us.
Never abandon your first love. I thought my first love was Junior, but His name is Jesus. And I love Him more each day.
