DON’ T

HIDE YOUR SCARS, SIS

Your healing isn’ t just for you it’ s a testimony for someone else.
Tamika VanEckelen
I know it’ s tempting to cover the scars life has left behind the emotional ones, the silent struggles, the past mistakes. We try to dress them up with smiles, good deeds, or silence. But God didn’ t bring you through the fire for you to hide the evidence that He walked with you through it.
Those scars are proof that you survived. They’ re not signs of shame— they’ re signs of strength. Every scar has a story, and every story carries a lesson, a reminder, and most importantly— a testimony.
When Jesus rose from the grave, He didn’ t come back flawless. He kept His scars.“ Then He said to Thomas,‘ Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’” – John 20:27( NIV)
Why? Because the scars proved He had been through something. And they became the very thing that restored Thomas’ s faith.
I’ ve learned that my scars are not mine to keep hidden. But I also don’ t reveal them recklessly or prematurely. Before I open up about where I’ ve been or what I’ ve been through, I first make sure God gets all the glory. I expose my scars only when I know my story will point someone back to Him not me. It’ s not about showcasing pain; it’ s about testifying to the power of the One who healed me.“ He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” – 2 Corinthians 1:4( NLT)
Share how you found peace in the chaos. Testify about the strength that came out of your weakness. Give God the glory before you share the story.
Your scars are no longer signs of trauma they’ re proof of triumph. They are not wounds. They are healed places. And healing should never be hidden.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the journey You’ ve brought me through the highs and the lows, the joy and the pain. Thank You for healing the wounds I once thought would destroy me. Lord, help me not to hide what You’ ve healed. Before I share anything about my scars, let my heart first give You all the glory. Let my testimony point back to You the Healer, the Restorer, the Redeemer. Use every part of my past for Your purpose. Let others find hope in what You’ ve done in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
