Created in 2000 , the NUCA of Florida / Andrew Scott Johnson Memorial Scholarship Foundation was formed as a non-profit 501 ( c ) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code and was established in memory of the son of Scott Johnson ( Johnson-Davis ), a two-time past-president of NUCA of Florida . Tragically , Scott ’ s son Andrew “ Andy ” Scott Johnson was killed in an automobile accident on December 28 , 1999 . At the time , Andy was a sophomore studying civil engineering at Vanderbilt University with the hope of entering the family business . Profits from the annual tournament fund college or trade school scholarships for association members while simultaneously forever memorializing a bright young man . This annual bass tournament is the sole revenue source for the foundation and to date has awarded $ 664,000 in scholarships to deserving students . Anyone who sponsors the tournament at the $ 500 level or above , or is a member of NUCA of Florida , along with employees of a member company , are eligible to have their student ( s ) apply for a college undergraduate or graduate level , or tradeschool / vo-tech scholarship .
