Legislative committee meetings kicked off at a fastpace on January 3rd and a variety of constructionrelated bills emerged from the “ hopper ” in bill drafting . Of particular interest is NUCA of Florida ’ s priority legislation relating to the public works bid process . Teaming up with our friends at Associated Builders & Contractors ( ABC ), HB 383 by freshman legislator Griff Griffits ( R-Panama City ) would repeal the $ 1M threshold from the definition of “ public works project ” that has been an obstacle for many of our underground contractors to secure local or state-funded projects . The amended language would read :
b ) “ Public works project ” means an activity exceeding $ 1 million in value that is paid for with any local or
