8 . YOUNG PHILANTHROPIST FEATURED IN MICROSOFT BLACK HISTORY GALLERY Orion Jean , from Mary Orr Intermediate School , won the 2020 National Kindness Speech contest and started his “ Race to Kindness ” campaign , which has raised food , toys and books for the community .

SPELLING BEE CHAMPION Dejanira Castillo from Asa Low Intermediate School won the 2021 Mansfield ISD Spelling Bee . She beat 37 other students to take home the top prize .

OF THE YEAR Two teachers were named the 2020-21 Teachers of the Year . Hadley Brown , from Roberta Tipps STEAM Academy , was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year . Anthony Shepard , from Lake Ridge High School , received the Secondary Teacher of the Year award .
