District Presidents

My advice for colleagues is to understand the mission and values of the organization . This will help you determine if the organization aligns with your personal and professional goals .
Get to know the leadership of the organization . Building relationships with leaders can help you better understand the inner workings of the organization and provide opportunities for involvement .
Identify areas of interest . Many organized dentistry groups offer a variety of committees , task forces , and other groups focused on specific areas of practice . Identifying an area of interest can help you find a meaningful role within the organization .
Be prepared to commit time and energy . Involvement in organized dentistry requires a significant investment of time and energy . Be sure you can make this commitment before getting involved .
Network and connect with peers . This is a great way to learn about new trends , research and new practice procedures .
Understand the scope of your involvement . Understanding how your involvement in an organization , and how it can impact the dental profession , local , state and national politics is important in helping you decide whether or not to become involved .
Remember that involvement in organized dentistry can be a valuable professional development opportunity that can help you grow and learn as a dentist .
Tenth District Dr . Dennis Zabelsky I have met and made many friends and acquaintances , all of which have dentistry ’ s best interests at heart . I have hopefully made our profession better and have learned new ideas that involve the local , state and national associations .
Knowledge of legislative dental issues is invaluable . Issues such as COVID , and having the PDA fighting for us is a good example of the value of being a member . Also , the camaraderie and mentorship of members , no matter how old or how long you have practiced , is golden .
I got my start when my wife Marilyn ’ s father , Bill Mortimer , took me to a branch meeting and told me it ’ s important to be involved . Jay Wells , my father-in-law , has also mentored me beyond anyone ’ s imagination .
I believe that I am service oriented , and that “ together we can !” Being a Lion , that is a motto for this year . If we work together , we can accomplish whatever we set our mind to do . I enjoy helping others and taking part in free dental , such as Missions of Mercy , legislative initiatives , making dentistry better and helping the general public .
My goals for organized dentistry are to leave the profession better off than before and my advice is get involved . Don ’ t delay ! Make time for your profession ! You will receive way more in return than you can ever imagine !
