As a consumer, how could you help to limit the amount of plastic and cardboard waste going to landfill sites? -Recycling weekly with local council -Recycling as much as possible. Reusing plastic bags, instead of buying a new one every time as this reduces the amount of bags made by manufactures. Using cardboard in a garden composter if possible. -Re-use plastic and cardboard products as much as possible and ensure that they are recycled properly by separating them when putting out rubbish. -Separate plastic at household level (is collected from door); all except black plastic is separated at the materials recovery facility. Cardboard I need to move to the single recycling centre in town that takes cardboard. -Choose items with the minimum of packaging. Reuse packaging of all sorts wherever possible. For example shopping bags, which can be reused many times, then finally used as bin liners, thus reducing disposal of new plastic bags. Gardeners can add cardboard to compost. Recycling facilities for both cardboard and plastic bags are commonly available. -For milk bottles go back to using glass, for plastic bags use fabric bags which will last longer and can be recycled. -Just by recycling at home everything and not taking unnecessary bags from shops -Recycle more and reuse more. -I think you can do this by simply re-using old bags and recycling the cardboard and other items. -There are many ways in which recycling has come into force (green bins etc) so there is no excuse no to recycle. -Reuse bags, try to limit packaging -I recycle as much as possible. perhaps retailers could have recycling in-store so that once you have passed the checkout you can dispose of the extra plastic, the boxes etc. Then provide benefits for people who are recycling. -Don't buy items that are heavily packaged -Shop bulk with cloth or paper bags. Recycle everything you can. Buy glass Tupperware instead of plastic. Recycle/ upcycle clothes and plastics - make crafts etc. Make things rather than buying - mend clothes. -Recycle it -Reusing the bags at home, as bin bags. That's what I do. And just general recycling -By recycling what you xan recycle as much as possible and reuse things (such as plastic bags) or remake things (making shorts from jeans etc) -By recycling everything that can be recycled and buying products in recyclable packages -Always take bags out with you. I have used bag for life or jute bags for my grocery shopping for years, admittedly I dind it harder to remember them when visiting clothes shops etc -Re-use plastic bags, choose/support retailers who are more sustainable in their approach. -Stop using plastic bags, stop buying products packaged in plastic, contact my MP, petition for change to paper where possible. -Bags for life -As a consumer I could reuse or up cycle materials and turn them into projects, or I could use other more sustainable products as an alternative. I could also make people around me more conscious of reusing and sharing things to create less waste -As I always have done, reuse where possible and recycle where possible. -Remember to take plastic bags with me when I go shopping. -Recycle them? -Always recycle and reuse. Always look for a more responsibly packaged product when shopping. -Never use plastic bags. -Re use bags -Bring your own shopping bags, recycle waste at home reuse or in our case have a paper and cardboard crusher that crushes into hard blocks that burns like wood on a fire. plastic just recycle or save till you need again -more plastics could be recycled if the facility and market for reusing plastics was there. -Use less and reuse things that be reused -Try and get all the use out of instead of using them just once -Recycle Only buy what you need Reuse packaging XXIV
