-I think that we are both equally responsible to reduce plastic and cardboard waste. However, companies' recycling practices may influence consumers and thus it may be more important for them to make
changes, as they have an impact on consumer behaviour.
-Us and we have the biggest impact as we are the ones using the products
-Everyone has a duty to recycle but if the product you are buying doesn't have recyclable packaging then
you can't do it.
-Both - We can all make a difference. Companies have an even bigger responsibility when it comes to
recycling wastage because of the massive amount of wastage they produce. - they should be leading by
example.
-Fashion company's as stock arrives with polythene inside garment then individually bagged and each
"story" is bagged again, a large cardboard box can contain just one handbag!
-Fashion companies as they create more waste
- A bit of both. Fashion business's should promote more in store and on social media and show campaigns that they are backing to make the world more ethical. I know only a handful of business's that do
this now. (H&M, Zara, New Look). However, we should too because if consumers are as well this will
benefit sustainability all round. We have been recycling for years but more on the emphasis of food packaging rather than clothing.
-Both, every little helps
-Both, we both need to make sure we’re doing our bit for the environment, every little helps
-I think us as consumers and fashion companies play an equal role and both have an impact on plastic
and cardboard being sent to landfil sites. Therefore I think more people should be recycling packaging in
aid of their children’s future and their children and that companies should be working together to reduce
the amount of packaging used on clothing which isn’t necessary which will therefore help our environment, especially if consumers do not recycle their packaging :)
-Yes fashion companies and large suppliers like tesco.
-Fashion companies should use less packaging when sending stock to stores ,which means we will have
to recycle less
fashion companies, they’re the ones with the £££ making and distributing on a global scale
-I think that the consumers have the biggest impact as we are the ones who can reuse and recycle our
bags depending on the material, therefore if consumers did this then we could have an impact on theretailers and show that we don’t need a new bag every time we buy something
-I sometimes recycle cardboard tags however they often go in the bedroom bin (recycleing is in the kitchen). I wish fashion was not in plasic packaging (not shopping bags as they are now chargable). I often
buy my clothing on-line and items come double bagged.
-Both as we both make the impact and should both make the effort!
-Us donating clotbjng and not throwing it away for landfills
-Both, much better that resources do not go into making unnecessary packaging due to energy impact
however necessary packaging is consumers responsibility to recycle.
-Using biodegradable materials should be a priority of the company as cutting off the problem at the
head is much more effective than trying to dispose of the whole body
-Both should make changes. The company’s who product waste are ultimately responsible. We will alway buy products. I give unwanted to charity to recycle. Food industry biggest waste?
clothing should be reused as much as possible by companies or people turning them into something new.
bags out of old trousers is a good one. /
-I think both us as consumers. Consumers have the biggest impact. I wouldn’t have even thought of the
fashion industry having a large impact on waste..
-Organisations should take the lead on empowering and facilitate us as consumers to change our behaviours, as it is the consumption stage of the product lifecycles which often has most environmental impact.
f-ashion companies - they have more influence through media - social media, adverts, billboards. they
always will have more average waste then the consumer therefore setting an example I believe would
encourage, in turn, the consumers
