John Lewis
In 2013 John Lewis collaborated
with Smurfit Kappa, developing a ‘collect, reprocess and
reuse.’ The recycling of paper
took eight days to complete
the process, and by 2013 John
Lewis distribution centre had
used 2,881,461 boxes the equivalent to 550 tonnes of recycled
materials. An outstanding
method used in-house by John
Lewis, creating a strong substantial sustainable aim for the
company. John Lewis’ policy
encouragement other businesses to follow in their footsteps
(Resource Efficient Business,
2013.) The transformation into
boxes were then branded with
labels emphasising the fact
that they were recycled materials; the message saying ‘Made
from Material, Recycled by us
in the UK.’ Added on was the
Forestry Stewardship Council
logo classifying the company as
responsible forest management
participants.
