Envirosort and WRE
At Envirosort, WCC eight roadshows a year are put on to encourage companies to get involved and recycle within their day
to day office life, including a presentation for Worcestershire
and Herford Council Employees. Similar facilities are offered
to younger students through Eco-Schools across England. This
encourages children in schools to become sustainable in their
actions, by reducing and reusing plastics, cardboards, and fabrics (Eco-schools.) At Worcester Resource Exchange (WRE)
a membership scheme is used so that schools and social groups
to pay a small price and have access to any amount of recycling
goods possible (WRE, 2015). After analysing primary research
it was discovered that Katie Bruton, Senior Sustainability Officer at Worcestershire County Council (appendices 4) stated
that they do not work alongside WRE, therefore this poses an
opportunity for new business connections to encourage schools
to use WRE’s facilities. Across the UK, this also encourages
local councils to get involved in charity based recycling companies, to promote the business through their marketing, and
long term get involved in local businesses to enable more charitable products to be donated by high street stores.
Primary research specified that Kate Brookes, Manager of
Worcester Resource Exchange (appendices 6) stating that
only 5% of their resources at WRE are cardboard and plastic,
can high street stores be encouraged to donate more of these
materials as a way of recycling them to benefit local schools.
A marketing platform through a social media presence would
encourage consumers and companies to get involved through
anonymous involvement or shown through a sponsorship
method by making other companies aware of what these
retailers are involved in and how they are making a change. A
company set up in America; Plastics- Make It Possible, encourage consumers to become innovative throughout their lives
to encourage a safer and more promising future. The website
encourages writers, designers and technology professionals
to feature their work when using plastic, this consequently
innovates consumers to use these methods (Plastics- Make it
possible, 2015.)
