WRAP’s mission is to re-invent, re-think, and re-define the way companies produce, consume and later recycle their products. By creating a partnership between the government, businesses, councils, communities and individuals it overall creates a bond whereby ideas and support can be given on all levels. This later leads to a charitable focus converting recycling and reusable ideas into actions. The level of recycle has increased from 11% in 2000 and in now higher than 40% in the UK and over 50% in Wales. This indicates a positive impact on the environment, and by working with consumers and organisations it encourages further recycling procedures to be put into place. By 2020 WRAP intend on return 20 million tonnes more material to the UK economy through recycling (WRAP, 2015.) By reducing the level of waste going to landfill, it ensures less green land is being taken over by waste, which could have alternatively been recycled. The process of recycling plastic and cardboard takes longer in comparison to adding it to a landfill site. Figure 16 22
