Now, you will also find that a trip to Cheyenne is not complete without taking a ride on the Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley. Offering 90-minute “Wild West History Tours” year-round, the trolley is the easiest way to immerse yourself in the rich history of Cheyenne. Learn about the city’s most interesting sites and historic buildings through lively storytelling from engaging drivers. The trolley is family-friendly transportation for all your touring needs.
This next thing to do, if you plan well ahead of time, is the number one event happening in Cheyenne each year: Cheyenne Frontier Days. Since 1897, it has been known as the world's largest
outdoor rodeo and western celebration. The first Frontier Days was held as a cowboy roundup featuring bronco busting, steer roping contests, and pony races. More than a century later, Cheyenne Frontier Days is now a 10-day festival of rip-roarin’ excitement, featuring the world's best PRCA rodeo action and western entertainment. It is non-stop activity and hospitality at its western best!
Cheyenne Frontier Days also includes PRCA rodeo and slack events, live music concerts, Professional Bull Riders, the USAF Thunderbirds air show, parades, pancake breakfasts, a Western Art Show and Sale, a carnival, the Old West Museum, and an Indian Village. To enjoy this 10-day festival in July, you should book your hotel well in advance, as thousands of people attend each year.
