God can make you a believer in miracles like the man driving home one wintry evening in his beat-up Pontiac after another unsuccessful day looking for work. In the darkness and snowstorm with dim old car headlights…he almost didn’t see a Mercedes pulled off the road. But then in the shadow, he saw an old lady by a flat tire. Realizing his ragged clothes and sputtering Pontiac frightened the old lady on that dark road he said “My name is Joe. I’m here to help you ma’am. Wait in the car where it’s warm.” With that Joe grabbed the spare tire and carjack and crawled under her car in the snow. After skinning his knuckles, getting muddy, greasy, and chilled changing the tire…Joe finally tightened the last lug nut, closed her trunk, and waved her to go. The appreciative lady from St. Louis asked how much she owed him. As tempting as money was (being unemployed), Joe said he hadn’t done it for money and told her “If you really want to pay me back, the next time you see someone who needs help, give that person the assistance they need and think of me."
Joe took off for home and the lady headed toward St. Louis. But being so cold for the last hour, she stopped at a dingy-looking café to get warm and grab a bite to eat. A pregnant waitress greeted her, trying to hide the fact she’d been on her feet all day. She brought the wealthy lady a clean towel to wipe her wet hair and took her order. The waitress never let the aches of being 8 months pregnant affect her attitude, which caused the
boast in the Lord”, “magnified the Lord…exalted the name of the Lord”. Truly when we pray and get ahold of God as David did in Psa. 28, we gain a new perspective on things here on earth. You see…
