sorry.” I was several hours away from that friend, and if I had the resources, I would have been at their house in an instant. I did not say anything but began singing to her the words to our favorite song, “Bulletproof” by Citizen Way. The chorus of the song that I sang went like this:

No matter what the world may say or what they do

I tried to convince my friend that their life has tremendous value. I told them that I loved them, but God’s love is supernatural and will never fail the way that human love does. I told them that God had a plan for their life, and prayed over them. It was a precious time to be able to minister to this person in the midst of sadness. I have to admit, it was 2 AM and I had been traveling that weekend, I was not feeling good, and I had a difficult time staying joyful with the desire to help in the moment of crises. I wanted to want to help, but I was grumpy inside. I mean, why couldn’t I have gotten this phone call a few hours earlier when I was fully awake?

The next morning, I woke up early with the intention to visit a new church. I had been previously corresponding with a few members of the congregation that I was visiting and was excited to meet some new faces. I ended up miss calculating how long that it would take for me to drive to the location and ended up being late to the service, arriving just a few minutes before a meet and great time started. I met the pastor and he knew who I was through reading Lama-Leah. We had been speaking for less than a minute and the pastor asked if I wanted to share some words with his congregation. Inside, I was shocked that I, a visitor, would be asked to speak, but then God reminded me of the message He gave me the previous night. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of the podium, delivering a message about value and love. I admitted to a room full of strangers that even though I write about love and hope, I do not always believe that same message myself. I truly believe that the Holy Spirit gave me this message to not
