VACATION AND TRAVEL

There is a very interesting attraction I would love to see and that is Dublin Castle. Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's, and today is used by the Irish Government for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignitaries. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room, and St. Patrick’s Hall. Tickets are 8 Euro’s or less.

This next attraction is a museum called Dublinia. Dublinia is a museum that explores Viking and Medieval Dublin and is located at the heart of the historic city. Witness the sights, sounds and smells of this busy town in Viking and Medieval times. Visit a Viking house, a Viking Street, or see what life was like on-board a Viking warship. Learn about crime and punishment in Medieval Dublin, death, and disease and even toothache remedies of 700 years ago, and enjoy the spicy aromas and so much more in the medieval fair.

Also, see the range of amazing artifacts from the National Museum, take a flying visit over the Medieval city and immersive yourself in an exciting audio-visual experience, a story of one

collection of prehistoric gold artifacts in western Europe, outstanding examples of metalwork from the Celtic Iron Age, and the Museum’s world-renowned collection of medieval ecclesiastical objects and jewelry. The Treasury: Ór - Ireland's Gold, Prehistoric Ireland, Kingship and Sacrifice, Viking Ireland, Medieval Ireland, Ancient Egypt, Ceramics and Glass from Ancient Cyprus, Life and Death in the Roman World. Admission to all four sites of the National Museum of Ireland is free.
