Stress is not that bad in short bursts. however prolonged stress can lead to health problems. The definition of “stress” is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any
event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body’s reaction to a challenge or demand. I have looked at stress and lupus and found that stress doesn’t cause
lupus, however it is an added problem to their disease. Stress didn’t cause the disease however it can make it worse. I found 25 ways to “de-stress”.
1. Breathe! Harness the power of your own inner strength and take
control of your body with breathing exercises.
2. Pace yourself. Don’t try to do too much at one time.
3. Set small realistic goals that you can manage.
4. Know your limits.
5. Asking for help gives another person an opportunity to do something good.
6. Set aside time for yourself.
7. Exercise regularly – cardio and resistance.
8. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
9. Try meditation and prayer. Quiet reflection is always good.
10. Take a yoga class.
11. Make sure you get enough sleep. Trouble sleeping?
12. Talk it out. The best way to solve a problem is to get things out in the open.
13. Keep a diary. It helps you express yourself and gives you a place to look when reflecting on the past.
14. Maintain a deliberate positive outlook.
15. Read – for distraction and for the sake of knowledge and inspiration.
16. Count your blessings. Even on our worst days, we have many things to be
