SPIRITUALITY AND FAITH

calling and negative thinking so you can become the new person He’s creating in you.

The problem with negative name calling is that whatever people say for a period of time, we start to believe it. King Saul had a grandson called Meribbal (contender with Baal), when Saul and his 5 sons died in the battle, this boy was taken by his nurse to keep him alive, but fell from the horse and became lame in both feet. He began to live in squalor and people began calling him Mephibosheth (from the mouth of shame). After a while, he believed his destiny was bad and in II Sam. 9:8 referred to himself as a ‘dead dog’. But David with God’s help turned his destiny around and he ate at the King’s table. You may not know the real reason why your name was given. However, if the reason was to undermine your Divine destiny, let God change your name/thinking!

GOD WANTS TO RESTORE COURAGE AND BOLDNESS IN US (Eph. 1:10-11)

A. God wants us to be a person of a different Spirit.

II Tim. 1:7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of sound mind”. When God’s Spirit is in us, (I John 4:4) “greater is He that is in me that He that is in the world”. Caleb became a spectacular figure in His generation when he looked to God NOT giants. David became a spectacular figure in a later generation when he delivered the people of God from a Giant because He knew His God is a Giant killer. Shedrach, Meshack and Abednego became spectacular beings in Babylon during an even later generation as they overcame the pressure to bow to idols and instead stood up to walk with God in the fire. Do you want your destiny to be spectacular? Be strong and of good courage. You can overcome depression, despair and addictions.

B. God wants us to freely serve others so He can exalt us.

As service to God and others goes up, anointing and favor comes down. People who get their eyes off their problems and sincerely serve someone else’s problem enjoy spectacular destiny. This is because God is a Spirit and knows how to reward service (Heb. 11:6). Elisha served Elijah sincerely. He was doing well as a farmer when Elijah called him. After burning the plow, slaying the oxen as a sacrifice and saying goodbye to his family he followed Elijah and never went back, and God allowed him twice the miracles that Elijah

lives aren’t! "
