WHEN GOD WINKS AT YOU

Several days later, Charles and his mother were asked to come over to Sarah's grandmother's house again, but this time Sarah and her mother were there when they arrived. The room was quiet and both Charles and Sarah were curious as to why they were asked to meet again. Finally, Sarah's grandmother broke the silence and told Sarah's mother with a gentle voice, "Tell them". Charles and Sarah waited patiently to hear what Sarah's mother had to say to them. She proceeded to tell them that twelve years ago, a woman named Shelly was in a tragic car accident and was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. Shelly did not survive the accident, but they were able to save the babies. The children went into foster care for a few months and eventually were adopted, but the woman who took the baby girl did not want to adopt the baby boy. Eventually, the baby boy was adopted three months later. The children had the same birth mark shaped like an angel's wing on their forearms.

Both children looked at each other. Sarah exclaimed, "You are my brother." Both mothers’ looked at each other and smiled while Sarah's grandmother said with a loud shout, "Thank you Lord.". You answered my prayer. Sarah's mom was a single professional woman when she adopted Sarah, and because she knew she could not have children of her own, although she was concerned about the baby boy, she knew it would be a struggle trying to raise two children by herself. She was saddened by this decision, but she prayed and asked God to allow the baby boy to be adopted by good parents that would love him and give him a wonderful life. Neither parent knew that the twins

both had the same birthmark shaped like an angel's wing. The children were given a DNA test that confirmed that they were brother and sister and to their surprise, Sarah and her mom were buying a house just down the street from where Charles and his mother lived. This was the best Christmas season ever; they both agreed. Just think God used a puppy to bring a brother and sister together.

Both Charles and Sarah are grown now and have their own families and they spend every holiday together, especially Christmas. Sarah's grandmother died when the children turned eighteen years old and she always encouraged them to remain close, and they did. Both Sarah and Charles's moms became great friends and neighbors. When you look at the family portraits in their homes, you will see them both holding the puppy that brought them together when they were twelve years old.
