VACATION AND TRAVEL

in the state of Ohio; William Henry Harrison (9th), Ulysses S. Grant (18th), Rutherford B. Hayes (19th), James A. Garfield (20th), Benjamin Harrison (23rd), William McKinley (25th), William H. Taft (27th), and Warren G. Harding (29th). So if you enjoy history, some of these presidential attractions are FREE of charge, but not all. Some have libraries for instance which may be FREE, but the museum may charge a fee. If you are near the city of Cincinnati, go over to the 27th U.S. President William H. Taft National Historic Site, located on 2038 Auburn Avenue. Everything here is FREE including the parking. You will see the furnished birthplace home with a FREE 30 minute guided tour offered. The center offers brochures, a gift shop, interactive exhibits, and an orientation film.

National Museum of the United States Air Force

Next, if you take 1-75 south and arrive in the city of Dayton, you will see some very good FREE attractions. The particular attraction which I can’t believe is FREE is the “National Museum of the U.S. Air Force,” located at 1100 Spaatz Street, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This place has self-guided or guided tours available for FREE. Parking is FREE. This museum is in multiple airplane hangars and you could literally spend the entire day there with so much to see. This is a day in itself with all the walking and things to see. There are hundreds of smaller items as well as multitudes of different types of airplanes and other larger sized items to view. So bring a camera.

Orville and Wilber Wright Cycle Shop

Nearby is the “Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center,” also located in Dayton over at 16 S. William Street. The nearby Wright Cycle shop is in walking distance at 22 S. William Street, which is also FREE. This is the sister shop to the one at Greenfield Village in Dearborn.
