BEFORE YOU SAY I DO
Marriage
with a Promise
Article by Dr. Tunishai Ford
Marriage is an honorable institution, and this is a covenant that should not be taken lightly, as it so often is. God honors marriage and when a man asks a woman to marry him, God gives him a promise. You see, the woman is God's daughter and like in the natural, a father who loves his little girl, even when she is grown, he will always see her as his little girl, and will be very particular and protective over "The apple of his eye."
Marriage is the only union that God honors, and with this union, God gives man certain privileges. One of them is the favor of God. When a man takes a wife, he is saying to God, "I will cherish, love, and take care of her as you did when she was alone and waiting on a mate. Now I have arrived, and I want to make a covenant with her like you made with the Body of Christ." These are the words that men should be saying to God about the women they want to marry.
When the marriage takes place, at that moment, God puts into motion His divine
favor. When the couple's motives are right and their love is genuine, then the husband will step into the unwavering, unlimited, and uncompromised favor of God because God wants his "little girl" to be well provided for and loved.
"Living "Common Law" and/or
dating without commitments are
not favorable.
Do not expect
that union to be blessed. Do not
expect anything
from God."
