C. A Heavenly Homecoming - In John 14:3, Jesus reminds us, “I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am, there you may be also”. Heaven, then is the residence of God, the place of His creation, beauty and glory. Our HOPE is that He will return for us! Angels told the disciples in Acts 1:11 that “this Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven”. I Thess. 4:16 says, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the air and so we shall always be with the Lord.” No wonder John ends Revelation 22:20 with these words, “He who testifies of these things says “Yes, I am coming quickly,” Amen. Come Lord Jesus!
Don’t delay…get ready, for Jesus is Coming! The greatest glory of Heaven will not be golden streets, jasper walls, angelic hosts, crystal rivers, endless days, or seeing those who have gone on before. The greatest glory will be as the songwriter wrote: “What a Day That Will Be…when my Jesus I shall see, and I look upon His face—the One who saved me by
His grace; when He takes me by the hand and leads me through the promised land, What a day, glorious day that will be!” YES, there’s HOPE for Tomorrow…and
THERE IS HELP FOR TODAY (John 14:6, 12-14)
A. Help In Salvation - In verses 4-6, Jesus tells the Disciples that there is only one plan of salvation and one way through Him who is the “way, the truth and the life”! The END of the story is the whole point of the story. Jesus blazed the trail from earth to Heaven so sinners might come to him by faith and be saved. Every other doctrine ultimately consummates in Jesus’ plans revealed in Revelation coming to pass…He will return for His people to reward them. Then after seven years of Tribulation on earth, ending with Armageddon, Jesus will return with His people and send the ungodly and Satan to hell, as Jesus sets up His kingdom on earth for one thousand years and then creates a new heavens and earth where we will dwell with Him forever. Because of what’s at stake, when you’re going through challenging times, questioning if the road to heaven is clear…look to the One who has scars on His body from blazing the trail for us! When someone asks: How can I be saved? He is the Way! When a person asks: How can I be sure? He is the Truth! When you may wonder: How can I be satisfied? He is the Life! He also offers:
