Now, when the interviewer asks you why you want to leave your current job or why you left your job, focus in on what you expect to get in your new job instead of complaining about what you didn’t get in the last job. You can say that you are looking for new challenges to improve your career path, or you just may be relocating to a new area etc.
Anyways, the person who prepares for an interview ahead of time by researching the company they are applying for, plus asking the right questions, and also by being properly groomed will increase their chances from a person who shows up in jeans with their cell phone in their hand. Speaking of cell phones, you should always silence your phone, or better yet keep it in your car until after the interview. No interviewer wants to hear a phone ringing and see someone answering a phone call during an interview, this will not be good.
When I asked questions during an interview, I always asked question that did not require a yes or no answer, but a question that allowed the person to answer in detail. For example I may ask questions that goes like this; “Tell me something about yourself “or “Why did you leave your last employer”, or “What kind of experience do you have.” I could tell right away if someone had passion for my company or they just needed a pay check by trading time for money with no interest in the job what so ever. I have seen this!
So in conclusion, fill out the application properly, prepare and research the company you are applying for, show up on time, dress to impress, smile, give good eye contact with good posture, don’t ramble on, show confidence with passion on your part, ask questions on your end to show your interest in their company, don’t bad mouth your former employers or former co-workers, and always follow up after you’ve submitted an application or had the initial interview. Because doing all this, it will show that you have more interest than someone whose waiting for their phone to ring. Good luck!
