provided that they exercised faith in the power of the Holy Spirit (“such as I have I give”) and claimed Psa. 103:3-4 “Who heals ALL your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion”. Thus they received results as (2ndly):
II.THEY CREATED EXPECTANCY IN JESUS TO WORK AS THE SOURCE OF HEALING
A.They believed in the FINISHED work of the Savior! They believed Jesus to work at that very hour--the ninth hour (3 PM in the afternoon), the very hour two months before when Jesus from the cross cried in John 19:30, “it is finished!” Because Peter believed it was already done, he stopped Acts 3:2 in front of this 40 yr old man crippled from birth who had never stood before, never jumped, walked or run…only carried to beg and said “Look at us!” This man v. 5 “expected” to receive something from Peter, John and God.
B.They said “Look at us!” because Jesus’ last commands included our laying hands “on the sick and they will recover” (Mark 16:18)! Jesus left the power of anointed touch in the hands of believers and said in Matt. 18:19 “If two of you agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask”. It's important we expect results since Healing is God’s Forever Settled Subject for you! Jesus went to the cross to fulfill what was promised in Ex. 15:26 “I the Lord Jehovah Rophe am your healer”. After Israel plastered blood on the doors of their homes in Egypt, they received God’s safety, healing, and deliverance! He wants to do the same for you to fulfill Isa. 53:5 “He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our
our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.” With this and hundreds of scripture promises, they received results as (3rdly):
III.THEY USED FAITH AND THE ANOINTING POWER OF THE SPIRIT
A.It is the Holy Spirit that gives power to produce evidence of healing, miracle ministry. Romans 8:11 says “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you!” So taking God at His Word…Peter (Acts 3:7) “seized the lame man by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones were strengthened. Under the anointing, one touch and crippling demons were expelled from those bones and arthritic joints. That spirit of infirmity for 40 years left and this man leaped up as his socket came into place! It can happen to you too as the power of the Living God flows thru you to lift you out of your crippling circumstances. As you create an environment of faith& healthy living habits, you can gain and retain your healing!
B.It is the Holy Spirit that helps us use the authority of the NAME OF JESUS. In promising the Holy Spirit to help us today, Jesus said in John 16:7 “It is to your advantage that I go away; or if I do not go away, the Helper (the Holy Spirit will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you…” Thus men and women who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost used the authority of Jesus’ Name against demons, diseases and impossibilities Jesus had told them in John 14:14 “If you shall ask anything IN MY NAME, I will do it!” It's why Peter said in Acts 3:6 “in NAME OF JESUS CHRIST the Nazarene —walk!” It says, "The man entered the
