Since then , the off-grid glamping destination has hosted approximately 2,000 people a year and boasted guests from 46 states and 34 countries . Their most popular rental is their two-story treehouse , known as the Treetop Flyer . The establishment has also received widelyrecognizable accolades , including its inclusion in a publication by National Geographic .
The excerpt from National Geographic said , “ The artsy-crafty town of Berea in the Appalachians of eastern Kentucky provides an apropos setting for a bucolic cabin a camping retreat on a working family farm .”
The various camping spaces and the communal space are made from recycled , salvaged , and local materials to better decrease the ecological impact the space has on the environment .
In terms of energy use , Turner is quite proud of the solar power system connected to the main building at Homegrown Hideaways . She said that it produces more energy than is used , being able to produce more energy than it uses .
Most any space on the property , save for Turner ’ s own backyard , is available for people to bring their families and pitch their tents .
