The Pinnacles
The Pinnacles in Berea offers families a serene spot to hang out , hike , and play . At the base of the hiking trail , there is plenty of room to picnic by the old Indian Fort Theatre or by the creatively constructed onsite play spaces .
For those more daring , a trip to the top treats hikers to gorgeous views and a firsthand look at Kentucky nature . People will be lucky enough to see snakes , insects of all
kinds , and various native plants on their way up and down .
The Berea College Forestry Outreach Center provides all kinds of guided activities for patrons of all ages , from guided hikes to nature exploration activities . The Center has educational displays and knowledgeable guides who can educate patrons on nature conservation and the Berea College Forest . Best of all , it ’ s also open on the weekends !
Lake Reba Park
It ’ s likely no shock that Lake Reba Park is arguably one of the most commonly used park spaces in Madison County .
The 450-acre recreational complex is home to nature trails , an 18-hole golf course , batting cages , sports fields and courts , picnic areas equipped with grills , and a 75-acre fishing and boating lake .
It would be difficult for kids to be bored when they can fish , play horseshoes , or run free on Lake Reba ’ s Universal
Playground , an inclusive endeavor that allows children of all ability levels to play together in the same space .
If they catch all the large-mouth bass , bluegill , channel catfish , and red ear sun-fish a kid could want , the kayak launch will give you lift off to a day on the water , or they can go to Gibson Bay Golf course for a hole-in-one !
A lot of small children will also enjoy the numerous ducks and geese that hang out along the shoreline . If you ’ re quiet , they ’ ll get pretty close !
