J DIVING VILLAGE The Diving village provides a glimpse of Dubai’s maritime past and shows you what life was like six to seven thousand years ago, when pearl diving was one of the regions main sources of income. As the pearl season only lasted six months, divers often risked their lives to gather as many pearl studded oysters as possible, and the village features displays on pearl diving, as well as scale models of dhows and pearling boats. Open 7.30am to 10pm. Admission is free. Call 04-3935725. www.discover-dubai.ae Discover Dubai JULY | 27
