WELLS BOWLING LANES
Ever since his great-grandfather , Ed Wells , built the then-12-lane alley in 1960 , Wells Bowling Lanes has been a staple of Elwood ’ s fun scene .
Tyler Ozenbaugh , co-owner / operator of Wells , said the alley later added eight more lanes for a total of 20 lanes .
Ozenbaugh said they ’ ve tried to keep the nostalgic feel with the original wood flooring and mechanical pin setters .
Keeping the nostalgia alive without being stuck in the past is something Wells is working on .
Ozenbaugh said they are planning on turning a storage room into a full-fledged arcade . A timeline was not available .
Wells is a special place for Ozenbaugh with memories ranging from being there nearly every day as a kid to bowling a perfect 300 as an adult .
Those wanting to make some memories of their own should come to Wells , which is open Monday , Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 10 p . m ., Tuesday , 5 to 9 p . m ., Friday , 5 to 11 p . m ., Saturday , 2 to 11 p . m . and Sunday , 2 to 8 p . m .
Each game is $ 3.50 per person , shoe rentals are $ 2.50 per person .
Wells also hosts some specials including Cosmic Bowling every Saturday evening from 7 to 11 p . m . The cost is $ 12 per person , which includes two hours of unlimited bowling and shoe rental . Tuesdays are “ Dollarmania ” nights — bowling , shoes and large drinks are $ 1 each .
NORWOOD BOWL
Less than 10 miles east of Wells is Norwood Bowl in Alexandria , where they are honing in on the nostalgia factor with the antique wood lanes and old timey scoring system .
