Bradley Roberts - a political relic, unearthed by the Progressive Liberal Party to write opposing press releases to anything under the gat' damn sun, aka party chairman.
What does he have to offer the Bahamian people? Nothing, unless you're a PLP - maybe a little comic relief for the educated masses who look at his releases full of drivel, that only hurl insults at all and sundry who dare question or criticize his beloved party.
The danger is that his coarseness appeals to the undereducated. It is never proper discourse, it is just things like, so and so "need to have his head examined". But why sir, why does so and so need a neurologist?
Relic Roberts then proceeds to refuse an invitation from "We March" organizer, Ranard Henfield, to March together on Majority Rule day. TOGETHER right?
It's like when someone sends a peace offering and then 'boof' you lick them side their head with a bottle. Ironically, Member of Parliament for the PLP, Leslie Miller, thinks that's the only way to deal with Henfield.
I have never seen this country more divided, and politicians seem to like it that way.
It's like choosing between Sands and Kalik. Yeah one is cheaper, widely available and has a less appealing label but does it taste better? I guess when you keep it simple and remove a lot of the alcohol, you will find that it can have a decent taste.
The PLP, despite the bitter tastes, refuses to change and refuses to remove the toxic elements. Maybe because they think it still appeals to the undereducated. They might get dey tings come Election Day if dey keep tinkin' dat!
But "We March" can and should appeal to everyone. We marched for the basic rights and answers that will benefit the entire country. "We March" was an invitation to all to voice their concerns. "We March" didn't march against the government, it marched for the government, pleading for it to save its own soul by merely doing wtf it promised the people it would do.
"We March" wants everyone to join their fellow Bahamians. What is a political party compared to your brothers and sisters who serve you everyday through commerce, industry and hospitality - we, the people, make it happen. We give government too much strength, and we give the words of our politicians too much credence.
We still want to March with Relic Roberts, we like him, he's hilarious.
