Every year the Royal Academy of Arts in London (founded in 1768 as an art school where up & coming artists could train) puts out a call to the artists of England to submit work for the

Summer Exhibition. The exhibition is a beloved London event, as it offers the public a chance to see and purchase work of famous and soon to be famous artists.

This year, Emma Carlow submitted a work of art for consideration; it was accepted and sold. Her work featured 95 handmade clay whistles beautifully presented in an acrylic case featuring seven rows of tiny animal whistles. Miniature horses, dogs, dragons, elephants, foxes, wolves, falcons, eagles, and lions inspired by folk art traditions from the world presented themselves to the world. Capturing their individual spirit and forming it into clay creatures, Emma Carlow delivered to the Royal Academy a menagerie of clay whistles that delighted all who encountered it.
