Organization (NATO), something which the
tyrant has signaled would be acceptable to him
and which Russia could not have achieved solely by invading the Ukraine. This was actualized first by the tyrant threatening to remove American support if member
contributions were not increased, and then by threatening a takeover of Greenland – an
autonomous, self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark – which would have set the stage for NATO having to invoke Article V, where an attack on one member is considered an attack on all, obligating all to assist with armed force to stop the attack even when instigated by an ally. Whether or not this was simply a negotiating tactic, as the tyrant claims, is not the point: the effect was to have – as would be desired by Russia – European allies once again questioning whether they could trust their American partner. They justifiably should be shaking in their boots.
Second, the tyrant has signaled to other adversaries a general indifference to major geopolitical acts of our global adversaries or countries whose human rights posture stands opposite of ours, as all becomes driven by nothing more than personal need and greed. Here, China’s interest in the Indo-Pacific region and specifically Taiwan rise to the fore. Though the tyrant may argue no change has been made to existing policy within this region, his acts indicate otherwise. He first demands companies in Taiwan that produce critically important technology return to the United States, and then he takes a stake in such companies10 prior to cutting a deal that allowed the very same critically sensitive technology to be sold to our other major adversary, to China, for profit, despite serious security concerns.11 Similar concerns can also be raised around the Middle East, where the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also received critically sensitive chips and artificial intelligence (AI) technology from the United States shortly after a UAE member
invested $500 million in the tyrant’s family
crypto business, World Liberty Financial, just prior to the inauguration, after which not only did the tyrant receive a personal gift of a $400 million Boeing 747-8 from the Qatari royal family, but he and family members have also received yet other investments, contributions, and gifts which have now, over time, totaled more than $2 billion..12 Effectively green-lighting future activities these countries might wish to pursue, allies large and small within those regions should also be shaking in their boots.
This is because, collectively, these acts raise concern about an even greater danger: that this tyrant has, by chasing egoistic need and financial gain, taken on the form and character of a foreign asset who does the bidding of strongent or dictators ruling centralized authoritarian states whose guiding ideologies stand against the freedoms willed to us by our Founding Fathers. Never has his plan been a long-term vision for a great country and the benefit of many, but one whose blueprint is simply copied from and supports agendas of the most oppressive regimes and most corrupt men on the planet.
First he moved, as has been seen, to challenge if not disrupt long-standing strategic alliances built upon military strength that held enemies at bay only to then strike at the heart of long-standing economic alliances built upon responsible and respectful trade agreements by imposing arbitrary and harmful tariffs on these
It must be said what most men of common sense know, and on what you and I of immigrant families have staked our future: great civilizations are neither made nor sustained solely on the desires of a madman. Instead, they are built on education, innovation, competition, adaptation, and respect. And here again, today’s tyrant fails to meet the standards required of a great leader.
