Moreover, not having any interest in history
or lessons learned from such, he agrees with authoritarian adversaries about the need to return to a world of hemispheric influence, strengthening their hand by allowing them to pursue activities within their regions of influence without challenge, so long as he is not challenged in the western hemisphere. And receiving such assurances, the tyrant moves, knowing there would be no immediate external threat, to reward himself and his cronies financially through imperialist endeavors more representative of the 19th century Monroe Doctrine than that of being a 20th century charter member of the United Nations.
He illegitimately engages the military – under a what is termed a ‘police action’ – to overthrow the president of the sovereign state of Venezuela without first informing Congress or obtaining international support, solely to obtain access to what the tyrant deemed was ‘our oil’ and the rare minerals that also lay below its sovereign boundaries, revenue generated from which he claims for himself to do as he pleases. And then, realizing success, he turns to threaten other sovereign nations in the sphere of influence, such as Greenland (where the tyrant threatened a takeover), Canada (where the tyrant not only threatened absorbing the country into the United States, but has engaged in the internal affairs of the county by allowing administration officials to meet formally with separatists from the province of Alberta), and Mexico and Columbia (where the tyrant threatened sending military troops under the auspices of fighting a drug war). And then, there are the opportunities desired by and which would reward his cronies, such as the desire to establish crypto-empowered “network states” on undeveloped territory in and around Greenland that would not be subject to regulation or taxation.7
Little does the tyrant consider how such actions could affect other regions within the world, as China would use such actions to justify expansion throughout the Indo-Pacific region and quite possibly act more aggressively toward Taiwan while Russia would use such actions to justify expansion beyond the Ukraine into the Baltic States and Europe more generally. Little does he care, as his focus remains on his personal interests and initiatives.
But the greed and shakedowns do not stop there. Arising out of such is the billion-dollar shakedown of foreign leaders – many of whom embrace authoritarianism – to sit on and have a say in the ‘Board of Peace,'9 a private company established by the tyrant through which, as a self-appointed chairman for life, he pledged ten billion U.S. taxpayer dollars in support of a plan to replace the United Nations and more generally the international order that came out of the Second World War, an act which further evidences the desire to expand his power and impose his worldview across the world stage in total domination. All stem not from interest in bettering the lives of American citizens, or even more broadly humankind, but from the desires of a small sphere of family members and influencers.
But even more disturbing is how this tyrant’s personal ego and greed support the goals of America’s adversaries. First among these is Russia’s desire to reestablish the dominance in world affairs once held by the Soviet Union. By promoting a return to hemispheric influence, Russia not only positions America against her allies but sets the framework through which to disassemble the North Atlantic Treaty
