Company Background:
The Telecommunications Company Suriname
(Telesur) is the government owned full
telecommunications service provider for the South
American nation of Suriname. As a full service
telecom provider (fixed and mobile telephony,
Internet, data services, TV Stations) itis one of the
largest mobile phone providers in Suriname and
has recently invested in the Dutch market. Telesur
is working with the drugstore chains -Kruidvat
and Trekpleister - to distribute its mobile services;
the service is also distributed through resellers and
online. (Van de Roer, 2010)
The company’s phone services provide facilities for
both corporate and individual customers, which
include telephone, internet and wireless GSM,
HSDPA, and CDMA.
The company is targeting 333,000 people from
Suriname or with a Surinamese background in the
Netherlands.5
Main Products/Services:
1. Landline Voice telephony – Telesur’s landline
(POTS) phone networks allow customers
(subscribers) to make and receive telephone calls
both within LIME’s own landline network, its
mobile network as well as to the (landline and
mobile) networks of other telecoms providers
worldwide.
2. Landline (Dial-up, ADSL, T1, ISDN and Fibreoptic) Data Services – Telesur landline data
service allows customers (subscribers) to access
and browse and generally utilize all aspects of
the internet including streaming, uploading
