practice partner
After practising in El Salvador, Dr. José Villeda says an instrumental part of his education in Canada
was exposure to a new orientation portal.
About one-quarter of doctors practising in
Canada are IMGs. Many enter the Canadian medical system through a practice-ready
assessment, where other physicians observe them for up to three months. Before
starting that assessment, physicians receive
an orientation to the Canadian medical
system, of varying lengths and content.
“This portal will help ensure that all
candidates have access to the same information, and the knowledge they require
of the communication and cultural aspects
of Canadian medical practice,” says Nancy
MacBeth, MCC President.
