Have Your Say
Three Open
Consultations
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Ontario values your feedback on policies,
regulations, by-laws and other initiatives that
are in development, and we invite you to
participate in our three open consultations.
Materials for each consultation, including
instructions on submitting feedback, can be
accessed by visiting our website at www.cpso.
on.ca under Consultations.
Block Fees and Uninsured Services –
Preliminary Consultation
We are inviting comments on the current Block Fees
and Uninsured Services policy at this early stage
of the review process to help determine what policy
changes may be required. Decisions about policy
revisions will be made with a view of creating a policy
that reflects current practice issues, embodies the
values and duties of medical professionalism, and that
is consistent with the College’s mandate to protect the
public.
Blood Borne Viruses Draft Policy
We are seeking your input on the Blood Borne Viruses
draft policy. The draft policy sets out expectations
with respect to reducing the risk of acquiring or
transmitting a blood borne virus (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis
C, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus), as well
as expectations for physicians if they are exposed
to a blood borne virus, and lastly, expectations for
physicians if they are infected with a blood borne virus.
The deadline to provide feedback is November 20,
2015.
Rights and Responsibilities
Later in the review process, once a revised draft
policy has been developed, we will hold a second
consultation to invite feedback on the draft before it is
considered for final approval by College Council.
The College is seeking feedback on its draft Rights and
Responsibilities document that has been developed
for patients to use as a resource as part of Council’s
Sexual Abuse Initiative. The draft document sets out
what patients can expect from their physician during
medical encounters, what rights they have as a patient,
and how the College can help if they have questions or
concerns about something their physician said or did.
The deadline to provide feedback is November 20,

We welcome your comments, and all feedback will be carefully reviewed and used to evaluate each policy/
document before being considered for final approval by CPSO Council. In keeping with College’s practices, all
feedback received will be posted on our website in accordance with our posting guidelines. Your contribution is
greatly appreciated.
