Introducing new public members
Council welcomes two public members to the Council table:
ms. joan powell
Ms. Joan Powell recently completed a 35-year career in education, which
she began in her hometown of Thunder Bay. Work opportunities led her
to Terrace Bay and to Toronto, but she spent the majority of her career in
Thunder Bay, holding a variety of positions including Classroom Teacher,
Special Education Teacher, Communications Officer, Principal, Superintendent of Education, and most recently, Director of Education. Ms. Powell
remains active in the Thunder Bay community where she resides.
major abdul Hafeez Khalifa

Major Abdul Hafeez Khalifa spent the first half of his career in the Pakistan
Army, and the latter half of his career in business management.
Major Khalifa has also been active in community involvement and
organized logistics for Humanity First in Haiti after the 2009 earthquake.
Major Khalifa lives in Maple, Ontario. ()]
