Devotion Booklets for Seasons of the Church Year Advent 2019 - God With Us | Page 8

Tuesday, December 10 Reading: Isaiah 17-18 ( 5 minutes) Short Reading: Isaiah 18:1-7 ( 1 minute) Continue to take note of the nation / people mentioned in these prophecies of judgment, what sins or consequences of sin God mentions, and then what we learn about our God in each section. God says in 18:4, “I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place…” When we see evil in the world, we might wonder where God is. At times, God remains quiet and allows evil to bring about his own purposes. Evil can only go so far. We need never fear, no matter what danger we see with our human eyes. God holds us and all things in his loving and powerful hands. Everything will work out for the good of his people. He promises it. Say a prayer with that in mind today. Wednesday, December 11 Reading: Isaiah 19-20 ( 5 minutes) Short Reading: Isaiah 19:19-25 ( 1 minute) Continue to take note of the nation / people mentioned in these prophecies of judgment, what sins or consequences of sin God mentions, and then what we learn about our God in each section. In 19:19-25, Isaiah tells of Egyptians who will be converted and will worship the Lord God of Israel. God would rescue them from their oppressors, their lives would be filled with worship, and they would have difficulty in which the Lord would use to correct and train them. Look for these things in this section and ponder them at work in your own life. 8
