CATEGORY TWO: Most cupcakes donated. The focus is on quantity, and this category is open to local bakeries, caterers, bakers, organisations, schools, churches etc.. Cupcakes will be judged in terms of flavour, colour and presentation and the cupcake that best represents the City of Tshwane, will be announced by the Executive Mayor as the “Tshwane Cupcake.” Here the focus is on the quantity and the minimum quantity that you can enter is 12 dozen (144 cupcakes). The cupcakes that you donate to the event will be included in a cupcake display. Cupcakes will be sold afterwards and those not sold will be delivered to orphanages and old age homes in Tshwane. The judging for both categories will be based on 50% taste and 50% presentation. Registration Registration starts on 1 August 2013 and will close on 25 August 2013. You must submit an official application form by 25 August 2013, together with an entry fee of R100 (Category A) or R500 (Category B). Competition rules: • All cupcakes must be regular size cupcakes – not mini or maxi size. • Each cupcake entry requires a non-refundable entry fee, payable to the Eduplex School (R100 for Category One and R500 for Category Two.) • The cupcakes must be delivered to the Eduplex school on the following dates: Category One: On Saturday, 31 August 2013 between 06:00 and 08:00. Category Two: On Friday, 30 August 2013 between 16:00 and 20:00 No late submissions will be accepted for the competition - only for the display. • The competition is open to all residents and citizens of the City of Tshwane, except directors, members, agents, employees and immediate family members of any employees of Eduplex, its advertising agencies or advisors. • Non-cash prizes are not exchangeable for cash. • The winner(s) will be chosen on 31 August 2013 and will be announced at the cupcake festival. • The winners will be contacted via e-mail by 2 September 2013. • Eduplex reserves the right to terminate the competition at any time. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms of the promotion and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against Eduplex, its advertising agencies, advisors, suppliers and nominated agents. • All participants indemnify Eduplex, its advertising agencies, advisors, suppliers and nominated agents against any and all claims, damages or loss howsoever arising, including but not limited to wilful misconduct or negligent act or omission arising from their participation in the competitions. • Eduplex will not be held liable for any misinterpretation of the prize, rules and conditions or any specific part thereof. • By entering the competitions, all participants agree to be bound by these rules, which will be interpreted by Eduplex in its sole discretion. Its decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into. • If contestants use nuts in their cupcakes or frostings, they should make this clear to judges prior to tasting. This also should apply to other potential food allergens, including coconut (which is a common flavouring in cupcakes), gluten and preservatives. • By entering the competitions you agree to allow Eduplex to use your recipe in a special recipe book that will be compiled to celebrate the winning cupcakes.
