Cupcake Challenge
A first for the Eduplex School
The Eduplex School, situated in Queenswood in Pretoria, is a mainstream school that includes deaf children in its classes, allowing them to learn (without using sign language) alongside their normal hearing friends, by means of unique teaching methods, technology and modified classrooms. Many of these deaf children attend school on bursaries – coming from underprivileged backgrounds, they would not normally be exposed to the unique educational opportunity that Eduplex provides. A new addition to the school’s fundraising initiatives is a funfilled, family cupcake festival, and all cupcake lovers – bakers and eaters alike – are invited to come join in the fun. The festival will take place on Saturday 31 August 2013 from 08:00 to 14:00. A whole range of activities is planned for this day such as cupcake baking contests, cupcake eating competitions, fun and entertainment for families and lots more. Kids will be entertained the whole day long with a choice of fun activities to participate in, including decorating their own cupcakes. This festival, which is the first of what will become an annual event, will provide a place to celebrate the art of cupcake baking. It will be open to the general public, with lots of cupcake-themed activities taking place – a huge cupcake display, cupcake-tasting, cupcakes for sale, and cupcake bakers showing their skills in various competitions.
